NOTE:  Pg #s refer to BAS

They are before the throne of God, and he who sits upon the throne will shelter them with his presence. Revelation 7.15

Processional Hymn:  #276 For All the Saints

For all the saints, who from their labours rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
And win with them the victor’s crown of gold.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
Steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
And hearts are brave, again, and arms are strong.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

The golden evening brightens in the west;
Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
Sweet is the calm of paradise the blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of glory passes on His way.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
Singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia!!

Welcome & Acknowledgment of Land

Call to Worship:
We gather this day to remember and to celebrate the lives of all those who have gone before us, the saints of every age and time.
We join our voices with their everlasting song of praise.
From every nation, tribe, people, and language, they stand before the throne of the Lamb.
Clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, they cry out: "Salvation belongs to our God and to the Lamb!"
We give thanks for their witness and faithfulness, for their courage and sacrifice.
We pray that we may follow in their steps, inspired by their example, strengthened by their prayers.
Let us worship God, who is the source of all life and hope, who calls us to be saints in our own generation. Amen  (Northumbria Community)

Collect: Almighty God, your saints are one with you in the mystical body of Christ: give us grace to follow them in all virtue and godly living, that we may come to those inexpressible joys which you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Saviour who is alive with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

The Proclamation of the Word   (Led by Chris Chance)
First Reading:    Is 25:6-9
Ps 24    Refrain: The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory.
Second Reading:    Rev 21:1-6a

Gradual Hymn: #454 Revive thy Work, O Lord (vs 1-3)

Revive thy work, O Lord,
thy mighty arm make bare;
speak with the voice that wakes the dead,
and make thy people hear.

Revive thy work, O Lord,
disturb this sleep of death;
quicken the smould'ring embers now
by thine almighty breath.

Revive thy work, O Lord,
create soul-thirst for thee;
and hung'ring for the Bread of Life
O may our spirits be.

The Gospel:    Jn 11:32-44

Gradual Hymn: #454 Revive thy Work, O Lord (vs 4-5)

Revive thy work, O Lord,
exalt thy precious name;
and, by the Holy Ghost sent down
our love for thee inflame.

Revive thy work, O Lord,
and give refreshing Pentecostal show'rs;
the glory shall be all thine own,
the blessing, Lord, be ours.

Offertory Hymn:  #489 From the Falter of Breath

From the falter of breath,
through the silence of death,
to the wonder that’s breaking beyond;
God has woven a way,
unapparent by day,
for all those of whom heaven is fond.

From frustration and pain,
through hope hard to sustain,
to the wholeness here promised, there known;
Christ has gone where we fear
and has vowed to be near
on the journey we make on our own.

From the dimming of light,
through the darkness of night,
to the glory of goodness above;
God the Spirit is sent
to ensure heaven’s intent
is embraced and completed in love.

From today till we die,
through all questioning why,
to the place from which time and tide flow;
angels tread on our dreams,
and magnificent themes
of heaven’s promise are echoed below.

Prayer over the Gifts: God of all goodness and grace, receive the gifts we offer, and grant that our whole life may give you glory and praise; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

¬The Communion  (all are welcome to receive communion, or to come up to the altar for a blessing)

Communion Hymn:  #66  And Now O Father Mindful of the Love

And now, O Father, mindful of the love
That bought us, once for all, on Calvary's tree,
And having with us him that pleads above,
We here present, we here spread forth to thee
That only offering perfect in thine eyes,
The one true, pure, immortal sacrifice.

Look, Father, look on his anointed face,
And only look on us as found in him;
Look not on our misusings of thy grace,
Our prayer so languid, and our faith so dim;
For lo, between our sins and their reward
We set the passion of thy Son our Lord.

And then for those, our dearest and our best,
By this prevailing presence we appeal;
O fold them closer to thy mercy's breast,
O do thine utmost for their souls' true weal;
From tainting mischief keep them white and clear
And crown thy gifts with grace to persevere.

And so we come: O draw us to thy feet
Most patient Saviour, who canst love us still;
And by this food, so aweful and so sweet,
Deliver us from every touch of ill:
In thine own service make us glad and free,
And grant us nevermore to part from thee.

Prayer after Communion:  God of all the living, we thank you for calling us into your church and for feeding us at your table. Strengthen our faith increase our love for one another, and send us forth into the world in courage and peace, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen

Doxology (sung):   Praise God through whom all blessings flow. Praise him ye creatures here below. Praise him above ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen

The Blessing

Closing Hymn:  #278  Jerusalem the Golden

Jerusalem the golden,
with milk and honey blessed,
beneath thy contemplation
sink heart and voice oppressed.
I know not, O I know not,
what joys await us there;
what radiancy of glory,
what bliss beyond compare.

They stand, those halls of Sion,
all jubilant with song,
and bright with many an angel,
and all the martyr throng.
The Prince is ever in them,
the daylight is serene;
the pastures of the blessed
are decked in glorious sheen.

There is the throne of David;
and there, from care released,
the song of them that triumph,
the shout of them that feast;
and they who with their Leader
have conquered in the fight,
forever and forever
are clad in robes of white.

O sweet and blessed country,
the home of God's elect!
O dear and future vision,
that eager hearts expect!
even now by faith we see thee,
even here thy walls discern;
to thee our thoughts are kindled;
for thee our spirits yearn.
