1) May Day celebrated May 1 or the first Monday of May is an ancient festival marking the beginning of Summer; Since the Middle Ages the church has celebrated May Day by honouring the Virgin Mary, often crowning her image with crowns of flowers.
2) When a person dedicates themselves to God it means that that dedication springs out of a genuine God consciousness in their life and the world around them.
3) Wabi Sabi (侘寂) is a Japanese aesthetic rooted in nature, which recognizes beauty in imperfection. Wabi is about finding beauty in simplicity. Sabi is concerned with the passage of time (in how things age and decay).
4) "On a day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open and the love starts. Today is such a day." ~Rumi
5) Don't let self doubt stand in your way. Nobody feels 100% confident a 100% of the time in what they are doing.
6) Jesus inspired movements throughout history show us that hate and oppression can be healed by recognizing our unity as children of God.
7) God comes to us in ways we would never recognize.
Aristotle's "Doctrine of the Mean or Middle Way" reminds us not to give in to excess, but to find balance. For example, it's good to have courage; but courage in it's extreme leads to rashness and putting oneself or others in danger.
9) The word "human" comes from the word "humus" or soil. It's also where the word "humility" comes from.
10) "Sometimes I just have to shout and sing" these words of the spiritual encourage us to get lost in the wonder, love and praise of God our Creator.
