Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:18

Processional Hymn: #262  Come Ye Thankful People Come

Come, ye thankful people, come,
raise the song of harvest home;
all is safely gathered in,
ere the winter storms begin.
God our Maker doth provide
for our wants to be supplied;
come to God's own temple, come,
raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God's own field,
fruit unto his praise to yield;
wheat and weeds together sown
unto joy or sorrow grown;
first the blade and then the ear,
then the full corn shall appear;
Lord of harvest, grant that we
wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord our God shall come,
and shall take the harvest home;
from the field shall in that day
all offenses purge away,
giving his angels charge at last
in the fire the weeds to cast;
but the fruitful ears to store
in the garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come,
bring thy final harvest home;
gather thou thy people in,
free from sorrow, free from sin,
there, forever purified,
in thy presence to abide;
come, with all thine angels, come,
raise the glorious harvest home.

Welcome & Acknowledgment of Land

Call to Worship:
Let us gather in the presence of God, the Creator of all things, and lift our hearts in gratitude.
We give thanks to You, O Lord, for the beauty of the earth, the sky, and the sea.
For the richness of the mountains, plains, and rivers,
We thank You, O God.
For the songs of birds and the loveliness of flowers,
We praise You, O God.
For the trust You have shown in giving into our care these,
our earthly home,
We honor You, O God.
For the gift of life and Your Spirit's presence within us,
We glorify You, O God.
For the fellowship of friends and the love of family,
We are grateful to You, O God.
For the promise of Your kingdom, and the blessing of eternal life,
We worship You, O God.
Let us walk together in this journey of life, with hearts filled with gratitude and voices lifted in praise,
As we offer our lives to You, O God, in thankfulness and love. Amen.

Collect: Almighty God, in our baptism you adopted us for your own. Quicken, we pray, your Spirit within us, that we, being renewed both in body and mind, may worship you in sincerity and truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Gradual Hymn: #259 For The Fruit of All Creation  (vs 1&2)

For the fruit of all creation,
Thanks be to God.
For His gifts to ev'ry nation,
Thanks be to God.
For the plowing, sowing, reaping,
Silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth's safe-keeping,
Thanks be to God.

In the just reward of labor,
God's will is done.
In the help we give our neighbor,
God's will is done.
In our world-wide task of caring
For the hungry and despairing,
In the harvests we are sharing,
God's will is done.

The Gospel:    MARK 10:17-31

Gradual Hymn: #259 For The Fruit of All Creation  (vs 3)

For the harvests of the Spirit,
Thanks be to God.
For the good we all inherit,
Thanks be to God.
For the wonders that astound us,
For the truths that still confound us,
Most of all, that love has found us,
Thanks be to God.

Offertory Hymn:  #258  We Plough the Fields and Scatter

We plow the fields and scatter
the good seed on the land,
but it is fed and watered
by God’s almighty hand.
He sends the snow in winter,
the warmth to swell the grain,
the breezes, and the sunshine,
and soft refreshing rain.

Refrain:
All good gifts around us
are sent from heav’n above.
Then thank you, Lord, O thank the Lord,
for all his love.

He only is the Maker
of all things near and far.
He paint the wayside flower,
he lights the evening star.
The winds and waves obey you,
by him the birds are fed;
much more to us, his children,
he gives our daily bread. [Refrain]

We thank thee then, O Father,
for all things bright and good,
the seed-time, and the harvest,
our life, our health, our food.
Accept the gifts we offer
for all thy love imparts,
and what thou most desirest,
our humble, thankful hearts. [Refrain]

Prayer over the Gifts: God of constant love, in this eucharist you renew the covenant made once with us in baptism. As you are faithful in all things may we, in our offering, be faithful to our calling. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Communion Hymn: #73 One Bread, One Body

Refrain
One bread, one body, one Lord of all,
One cup of blessing which we bless -
and we, though many, throughout the earth,
we are one body in this one Lord.

Gentile or Jew, servant or free,
woman or man, no more.  Refrain

Many the gifts, many the works,
one in the Lord of all.  Refrain

Grain for the fields, scattered and grown,
gathered to one for all.  Refrain

Prayer after Communion:  Faithful God, in baptism and eucharist we are made one with you. May we who have shared in holy things always bear witness to your covenant, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen

Doxology (sung): Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Praise him all creatures here below. Praise him above ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen

The Blessing

Closing Hymn: #401 My Life Flows on in Endless Song

My life flows on in endless song
above earth's lamentation:
I hear the real though far off, hymn
that hails a new creation.

Refrain:
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I'm clinging.
Since Love is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?

Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear that music ringing.
It sounds and echoes in my soul
how can I keep from singing? [Refrain]

What though the tempest 'round me roar,
I hear the truth it liveth.
What though the darkness round me close,
Songs in the night it giveth. [Refrain]

When tyrants tremble, sick with fear,
and hear their death dnells ringing;
when friends rejoice both far and near,
how can I keep from singing? [Refrain]

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
a fountain ever springing.
All things are mine since I am his!
How can I keep from singing? [Refrain]
