Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, BC, is searching for a Director of Finance and Facilities. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled and committed staff members overseeing the operations of the largest Anglican church on Vancouver Island.
The Director of Finance and Facilities is responsible for all aspects of financial management in the Cathedral, including budgeting, reporting, review engagement preparation, compliance with GAAP and such bodies as the Anglican Diocese of BC, CRA, as well as the identification of efficiencies. They will provide guidance and supervision to all individuals and groups engaged in the Cathedral’s management of financial resources. In addition, the incumbent oversees all matters related to the use and upkeep of the cathedral, including the supervision of custodial staff.
The Director of Finance and Facilities must be able to negotiate the range of financial literacy within the Cathedral constituency, providing desired detail and transparency, while communicating clearly to those with no financial training.
This is a full-time (37.5 hrs per week on average) position and includes pension and benefits as administered by the Diocese on behalf of the General Synod. Occasional overtime may be required, and is compensated by time off in lieu, in accordance with diocesan policies.
Vacation entitlement is as negotiated, in addition to time off in the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Required skills include CPA designation or equivalent experience, human resource management, and experience in building maintenance and oversight. A working knowledge of charity law and fund accounting would be an asset.
