Hello Fellow Parishioners.
Just a bit of info from Geoff Strong about PWRDF. Since COVID 19 hit donations have dropped off significantly to charities. There was an need to help in Lebanon where there was a disaster on a large scale. Many buildings and lives were lost when the waterfront and area exploded.
There is still much to be done. We are starting a new campaign with PWRDF's World of Gifts Catalogue. It was missed from Anglican Journal in October but will be included in subsequent issues. One of the most important resources of all, in development aid, is Water. Without water there would not be any need for any of the other gifts. It was decided to discontinue Cows and instead decided on Goats. They cost less to feed and produce a large quantity of milk. There are many items in the catalogue to choose from.
If you have family members who don't have a great need and don't request a gift then they may be delighted if you gave a gift to PWRDF in their name indicated within your perfect greeting card.
Giving to PWRDF will provide more assistance to a needy person than a frivolous gift the family member may have received and forgotten about in a few days. As it is said: 'It is better to give than to receive.'
Also, the Canadian Federal Government will augment whatever is raised by PWRDF 6-1 for gifts involving protection equipment to prevent the spread of COVID19.
Last year some of the money raised from the Thanks Hat was sent to PWRDF. Because of the Pandemic it has not been passed around. We will have to get creative to find ways to raise money again during the Pandemic.
Thank you.
Audrey Calvori, representative for this parish.
