Hello everyone, Zoe and Charley here!
Charley and Reverand Alan had a beautiful video exchange this week that, with Charley and Alan’s permission, I would love to share with you! I think it goes quite nicely with Alan’s sermon this Wednesday too!
Before the video though, I just want to say how wonderful I think you all are. I have never been a part of a church community before and the support and welcoming you have each given us has really left me feeling speechless and full in my heart. Seeing the way God is working through Charley, the way she takes what she has learned and brings it to others, or is always coming up with new questions, is a testament to the way you have each inspired her. When we see elders who stop to say hi to her, the very first thing she tells them is all about God and her church and how much she loves it, loves singing and drinking tea after, and saying peace to everyone. For a child who is only 5, it is clear the impact you have each had on her has been great. So thank you for giving us such a loving place to call home.
A big thank you to Nancy whose calls I have begun to look forward to. You are the Sunshine and cheer on hard days and my family appreciates your unconditional loving kindness so very much.
I also really want to thank Eric and Michael who have shown me new ways to open up my heart to God, who have given me new thoughts to settle my anxieties when they have become great, and who have inspired new ways of understanding prayer and cherishing others. Thank you both for your wisdom, your encouragement, your prayers for me and for my family, your resources, and your invitations to participate. I am so grateful to you both.
And a final thank you to Alan. You have been my guiding light in understanding and deepening my connection to God, the Holy Spirit and my church for the past 7 months, and I can’t thank you enough for the tender way you teach my daughter, and the way you advise and listen when I am feeling a bit lost or confused. You are family to us and no matter who steps into this position, I know you will always be in our lives. Charley wouldn’t hear of it if I told her otherwise!
So a giant thank you to each and every single person in our community from the bottom of my heart for being in our lives and for your kind welcome. I hope these videos lift your spirits and make your hearts smile.
